The Hartford Pond Character, Fellowship and Charity since 1954
The Hartford Pond was chartered in July of 1954. Currently at over 200 Ganders, the Hartford Pond is the 4th largest Pond in the Honorable Order. The Hartford Pond represents a true cross-section of the state's insurance industry, including representatives of insurance carriers, agencies, investigators, consultants, adjusters, contractors, cleaners and salvors.
The Hartford Pond meets monthly from September through May and we often present informative and interesting guest speakers from within and outside of the industry. In recent years, speakers have included a representative from the US Dept. of Justice and insurance speakers from ESPN and the Stanley Works of New Britain. Some of our events are primarily social, such as our October golf outing and the Holiday Party in December. Other events, such as April's Insurance Commissioner's Luncheon are of a more serious nature.
Blue Goose traditionally promotes charitable causes throughout North America. In fact, charity is one of our organization's three basic principles, along with character and fellowship. Over the years, the Hartford Pond has embarked on a continuing program of collecting food for Foodshare, organizing drives for Winter coats and personal care items, as well as donating funds to the deserving, poor, unfortunate and homeless. In recent years, the generosity of our members has benefited Connecticut Hospice, Gifts of Love, Connecticut Downs Syndrome Congress, Y USS, South Park Inn, House of Bread, the Open Hearth, the Salvation Army and the Special Olympics. We also offer college scholarships to the children of our members, and sponsor an annual Toy Collection Drive as part of our Holiday Party.
